Shoulder Pain Treatment
in Chicago's West Loop
Can't sleep on it. Can't lift past your shoulder. A pinch every time you reach overhead that you've been quietly working around for weeks. We help active Chicago professionals and athletes identify the real source of their shoulder pain — including what's coming from the neck and upper back — and restore full, pain-free movement.

Why Shoulder Pain Is Rarely Just a Shoulder Problem
The shoulder is the most mobile joint in the body — and that mobility comes at the cost of stability. When the muscles, tendons, and joints that create that stability are compromised, the shoulder compensates in ways that compound the problem over time.
More importantly, the shoulder doesn't function in isolation. Cervical nerve compression refers pain directly into the shoulder and upper arm. Thoracic restriction limits scapular movement, forcing the glenohumeral joint to do more than it's designed for. Tight pec minor and poor thoracic posture from desk work pull the shoulder blade forward and close down the subacromial space — creating impingement.
Treating only the shoulder misses all of this. We assess the full chain.
💡 The Desk Posture–Shoulder Pain Connection: Prolonged sitting with rounded shoulders tightens the pec minor and anterior capsule, tilts the scapula forward, and shuts down the lower trapezius and serratus anterior — the muscles responsible for keeping the shoulder blade in proper position during overhead movement. The result is impingement, rotator cuff overload, and a shoulder that catches or pinches long before any structural damage occurs. We fix the movement pattern, not just the joint.
Common Causes & Conditions We Treat
What's Causing It
-
Rounded shoulder posture from prolonged desk work
-
Rotator cuff strain from repetitive overhead or pressing movements
-
Tight pec minor pulling the shoulder blade forward
-
Thoracic spine restriction limiting scapular mobility
-
Cervical nerve referral sending pain into the shoulder & arm
-
Gym overload — bench press, overhead press, or pull-up volume
-
Old injury creating scar tissue and altered mechanics
Conditions We Help With
-
Shoulder impingement — catching or pain with overhead movement
-
Rotator cuff strain & tendonitis
-
Frozen shoulder (adhesive capsulitis) — progressive stiffness & pain
-
AC joint pain — top-of-shoulder soreness with pressing
-
Bicep tendonitis — front-of-shoulder pain with lifting or curling
-
Shoulder bursitis — lateral or posterior shoulder aching
-
Post-surgical stiffness & restricted range of motion
How We Treat Shoulder Pain in Chicago
We assess shoulder mechanics, scapular position, cervical and thoracic mobility, and rotator cuff function before building your plan. Treatment for impingement looks different from treatment for frozen shoulder or rotator cuff tendonitis — so getting the diagnosis right first matters. Your care may include:
Chiropractic Adjustments
Restores motion to the glenohumeral joint, thoracic spine, and cervical spine — improving the full shoulder complex and reducing the nerve irritation contributing to shoulder symptoms.
Active Release Technique (ART)
Breaks up adhesions in the rotator cuff, pec minor, bicep tendon, and surrounding fascia — releasing the restrictions that alter shoulder mechanics and cause impingement.
Corrective Exercise & Rehab
Rebuilds scapular stability, rotator cuff strength, and thoracic mobility — so the shoulder stays in proper position and pain doesn't return with training or overhead movement.
IASTM, Cupping & Soft Tissue Therapy
Reduces inflammation and releases fascial restrictions across the shoulder, upper back, and chest wall — improving tissue quality and circulation in the most affected structures.

We Assess the Shoulder, Neck, and Upper Back Together
A significant percentage of shoulder pain has a cervical or thoracic component driving it. Treating only the shoulder while missing these upstream contributors is one of the main reasons shoulder pain keeps recurring after treatment.
You Work With Dr. Bryant Directly
No hand-offs to assistants. No assembly-line appointments. Dr. Bryant personally evaluates and treats you every visit.
We Identify the Specific Condition Before We Treat
Impingement, frozen shoulder, rotator cuff tendonitis, and AC joint pain require completely different approaches. We diagnose which one you have first — and build your plan around that, not a generic shoulder protocol.
We Keep You Active While You Heal
We work around your training, travel, and schedule — not against it. Most patients never need to pause their workouts or routines.
